Located in Kadıköy, Istanbul, the project brings together swimming, study and social activities within a shared public setting. The surrounding schools, cafés and cultural venues inform its role as a place for recreation, learning and everyday interaction.
The architecture expresses this mix of uses through intersecting volumes, inclined planes and a sculptural roofline. Departing from a conventional orthogonal composition, these forms articulate the building’s different spatial requirements while exploring the relationship between water, light and movement.
The large volume on the left accommodates a ground-floor swimming pool within a tall, open hall. A small elevated seating platform runs parallel to the projecting glass façade, offering views into the pool below. Reflected water light animates the interior and reveals the building’s aquatic character through the glazing.
A central entrance hall connects the principal functions, with shared study spaces on the first and second floors. To the right, a glazed café and additional social spaces open the building visually toward the public square, strengthening its connection to neighbourhood life.
